IN THE COMMUNITY
CHRISTMAS SERVICE PROJECTS
The holidays are a time of generosity and service. The Granite City community always supports each other and fulfill needs when they exist. GCAA stands ready to be of service when a need might arise. This page highlights some of our most memorable service work during the Christmas season.
In 2020, because GCHS students were not in school due to the pandemic, the GCHS Student Council was behind in their annual Christmas basket campaign. GCAA reached out to our generous membership to help fundraise for these baskets so that needy families would have groceries during the holidays. Our membership responded enthusiastically. A great GCHS tradition of service remained unbroken.
Since 2020 GCAA has decorated the spruce trees in front of GCHS to spread holiday joy to the entire community. This tradition's origin story can also be read here.
In 2023, GCAA stepped in to help fund the Holiday Express program at Grigsby Intermediate School. This programs allows families to shop for Christmas presents for their family so that everyone can have gifts to open on Christmas morning.
